Adeline was born 8 years ago and although I had been sewing a little before she was born, she really became my main inspiration to improve my sewing skills. I have a friend whose mother-in-law had made all of the daughters and daughters-in-law wedding dresses in their family. When I learned this about my friend and I now had my own little princess I decided that one day I would make her a baptism dress, and one day a wedding dress. There is something really special about hand making something for someone you love, and also being on the receiving end of something handmade. Nostalgia. Heirloom. Keepsake. All of my little projects in between I have looked at as opportunities to practice and learn. The baptism dress has been half of my ultimate goal as a seamstress. As I now look back I feel really happy and overjoyed about all I have learned about sewing and raising a little girl. I also have to keep pinching myself. I cannot really believe that the day has come for me to make one of the white dresses. I stewed over what to do with this dress, what kind of cuts and lines and styles to follow, and whether to follow a pattern or create my own. In the end I went with simple, but princessy. I love it. When it was coming down to the time to start this dress I seriously almost bagged the idea altogether. I don't really even know why....laziness, anxiety, overwhelmed feelings of being pregnant, lots of other things going on, other dumb reasons, etc. I said a prayer to help me feel like I could do it and, I have to say I felt guidance and a special feeling every step of the way...and peace. Making a baptism dress for my "baby" girl has been somewhat of a spiritual experience! I am so happy with Adeline. I am so happy to be a mom. I am so happy with this special white dress.

sEwIng ClasSes

It's almost Summer! Summer to me is a great time (if you live in my area) to sew because it gets so blasted hot outside in the afternoons that most of us find ourselves inside in the nice AC anyways. It is nice to have a project to work on in the afternoons...to beat the heat! I am going to offer sewing classes during the summer. Old, or young. I think the youngest I could teach is 8. So! If you or someone you know wants to learn how to sew, give me a call and we can work out the details. I will make sure you leave with finished projects. Can't wait!
ps I am also still teaching violin lessons in the summer too, so if anyone wants to get their little ones (or themselves) involved in something totally worth while during the summer....give me a jingle!!

ABC book for Baby FOR SALE

This is One of My Favorites!! It is a quilted ABC book on a ring. So perfect for a baby girl. It is washable, and the ring can hook on a diaper bag or car seat No little pieces to come off and choke on. It turned out really cute. I made it for my baby, that I was sure was going to be a girl. But I am having a boy, so I am adding it to my shop. I am selling it for $40. If you want it let me know.
I might be posting a lot of girly stuff in the next little bit. When I was pregnant with #3, they told me via ultra sound that it was a girl, so I sewed and sewed and sewed for the girl that I was expecting. Well, as many of you know....I didn't have a girl. I had a bouncing baby boy. SO, now in my 4th pregnancy with my 3rd boy I have decided to part with some of the girly things I made....so, be watching.

Farmer's Market Baby Greens

Cheers to my adorable model!

If you are a Mom, you probably understand what I am about to describe. Have you ever done this? I will be cleaning up something and walk to take something to the trash can or the laundry room and on the way there I see another thing that needs tending to and I get totally distracted with taking care of that thing only to realize a few minutes later that I didn't finish the first task. This is kind of what happened with my Farmer's Market Baby Greens Bibs! I had these on my desk for way to long....no matter what something else kept getting in my way of getting these done. So, now I am really really really excited to show my new Farmer's Market Baby Greens. I love them! They are so colorful. Each highlighting a fruit or veggie coordinated together with shades of green. Who doesn't love green? Green is one the most versatile colors. I love green! I love summer! I love the Farmer's Market!! Your babies are sure to eat these bibs up! Also available in blueberry blue, great grape, cheery cherry, and pipping pepper!! Each bib is reversible, and ties together with ribbon.

These baby bibs are so fun! They are reversible and holiday spiritish. While only six are showing 12 would come in a set. One for each month! The bibs are fastened with a button so baby can't rip it off while in the middle of a messy meal!
